Abilities like Sinister Strike are based on your main-hand weapon damage, not DPS, meaning a weapon with a higher damage range will hit for more. Something like Blade of Necromancy may seem good at a glance but when compared to a slower weapon like Ebon Hilt of Marduk, available 3 levels earlier, the two are night and day for damage. Agility – This is always going to be your favorite stat. Most Rogues will choose to level as Combat, as it is the most reliable for chain-killing enemies. Despite this, some people still prefer to level as Subtlety or Assassination, but both of these have distinct weaknesses while leveling, relying heavily on either Stealth or longer fights.
They possess the abilities Sword Specialization, Combat Potency and a fast mainhand/slow offhand combo. Some more questions I am scanning over this one more time before I start to grind up my little rogue and looking over your weapons most of them seem to be stat heavy on str or str stam. Is this along the lines you would suggest for looking to gear for higher base damage or is it just the fact that most one handed blunt tends towards those stats? In short should I be building gear towards higher agil for crit dodge and pary or should i be looking more towards base damage and going for str?
Don’t be afraid to buy a vendor weapon or gear here and there. As a rogue, you tank your own targets when solo playing. You also are only wearing leather which makes rogues somewhat squishy. Getting a new weapon or piece of armor from a dungeon not only helps your survival but keeps the monotony of questing/grinding to a minimum. After completing the Burning Crusade Dark Portal Pass Rogues can start with basic gear.
Like any crowd control, its purpose is to temporarily incapacitate an enemy and keep them out of combat. Potential uses include breaking up a pack of enemies, or Sapping a sentry so you can take the thing they’re guarding without a fight. As with any crowd control, any damage done to the target will break the control. For an equal opportunity to make money and enhance your armor, Leatherworking and Skinning are a reasonable pair for more paced leveling. If you plan to PVE/level, your best choice is to focus on a mix of Combat talents, and Assassination.
