Stanley Cup

The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs have been very exciting up to this point. The first round will have seven series going to at least a Game 6. Wouldn’t it be something if all of them went to a Game 7? It would be something magical, but it is probably not going to happen though.

Only one team has advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and that’s the Colorado Avalanche. With the first round winding down, the second round will begin Monday, May 16th. Sports news has been talking about all of this recently. What are the updated odds for the 2022 Stanley Cup title?

Colorado Avalanche +200

The Colorado Avalanche currently have the best odds to win the 2022 Stanley Cup title. Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon absolutely dominated the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for Colorado against the Nashville Predators.

They are loaded from top to bottom. It is nice for the Avalanche that they had a security blanket in Pavel Francouz as the backup goalie because Darcy Kuemper had swelling in his eye. Well, it isn’t a surprise that Colorado is in the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs once again, after sweeping the Nashville Predators out of it.

The Avalanche now needs to get past this stage. They have not been to the Western Conference Finals since 2002. Jared Bednar is the head coach of this hockey team. We will see how well they play in the next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Florida Panthers +475

The Florida Panthers are in a much better spot today than they were a couple of days ago. They had a couple of signature wins in Game 4 and Game 5 against the Washington Capitals and also have the second-best odds to win the 2022 Stanley Cup title.

In Game 4, they trailed 2-1 and won 3-2 in overtime. In Game 5, they trailed 3-0 and won 5-3. Florida looked to appear toast, but they never quit.

The Panthers have an unsung hero right now in Carter Verhagae. Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau have been their two main players during the regular season, but Florida has four lines that are legit. The biggest question mark remains Sergei Bobrovsky because he has not played that well in net for this hockey team.

Seeing Spencer Knight in net during the Stanley Cup Playoffs doesn’t remain out of the question at all. Head Coach Andrew Brunette likes what he sees from his Presidents’ Trophy-winning team right now. The last time a Presidents’ Trophy-winning team won it all was in 2013 with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Calgary Flames +650

The Calgary Flames have been carried in their first-round series against the Dallas Stars by goalie Jacob Markstrom. They have the third-best odds to win the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup title.

Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Elias Lindholm have been average for this season offensively for Calgary. They play in a weak Pacific Division, but Dallas is from the Central Division and it is not surprising the Stars are pushing them.

They are getting pushed because Jake Oettinger is tearing it up in the net for Dallas. The Calgary Flames can make a deep postseason run, but be careful betting on them to win it all. Daryl Sutter is the head coach of this hockey team.

Toronto Maple Leafs +750

The Toronto Maple Leafs have the fourth-best odds to win the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup title. Toronto is knocking on the door to eliminate the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions in the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner, and Jack Campbell have been solid in this series for this hockey team. Sheldon Keefe is the head coach of this hockey team.

The Maple Leafs have not won a first-round playoff series since 2004. Maybe this is finally it for Toronto to get past this stage or will they choke like always? It remains to be seen here.
