LOS ANGELES — A transgender child actor will guest star on Wednesday night’s Modern Family. On Wednesday, Jackson Millarker will break new ground by guest starring on Modern Family which will make him the first openly transgender child actor to appear on television. When Jackson Millarker appears on ABC’s Modern Family Wednesday night, he’ll become the first transgender child featured on a major network scripted TV show.
Actor Jeffrey Tambor recently won his second consecutive Emmy for portraying a transgender woman. Laverne Cox became the first openly transgender person nominated for an Emmy in 2014. In the episode, titled “A Stereotypical Day,” Cameron and fifty percent messenger voice traffic comes Mitchell’s daughter, Lily, will have a playdate with a transgender boy named Tom, according to NewNowNext, a website connected to LGBTQ channel Logo TV. Jackson, 8, lives with his family in metro Atlanta and goes to school in DeKalb County.
Before his episode airs, Millarker and his parents are opening up to PEOPLE about his journey to the small screen.
The episode will be called “A Stereotypical Day.” The director also posted a picture of Millarker on set. “Modern Family” is not the first major show to feature transgender actors, with “Orange Is the New Black” and “Nashville” both proving groundbreaking.
