Separate tissue boxes, a shoe box with holes poked in the top or a bottle drying rack all make easy ideas for keeping yarn organized while C2C crocheting. • Bobbin Management System – You’ll develop your own method for keeping your separate bobbins or yarn balls organized when switching colors. • Bobbin Tools – Clothespins, binder clips or industrial clips allow you to wind off a small ball of yarn and clip it to the project or a sturdy object nearby. This helps make multi color projects more manageable. For denser, fabric-like yarns, you might find it helpful to use a sharper upholstery needle or a small crochet hook.

I suggest carrying the yarn if you have a short distance to travel , and only if the color you are carrying will be touching a tile of the same color. Weaving in the end for a C2C project is similar to weaving in the ends for any other crochet project. The goal is to weave the ends in a way that secures the yarn tails without creating too much bulk.

This tutorial will show you how to make a c2c rectangle in “portrait” style & in “landscape” style. Start of Rectangle C2C Row 1Next, work the 3dc block into the ch3-sp, ss into the next ch3-sp and ch3 to continue . I have written this out in pattern form below along with a picture guide of each step.

That means you’ll start your design with the bottom-right tile, and work your way across the chart in diagonal rows, until you reach the top-left tile. • For a decrease row, begin the row by using the previous color to slip stitch 3 up the edge of the last tile in the previous row. Switch to new color to complete fourth slip stitch and proceed as usual.

I publish all MadameStitch patterns on Ravelry HERE and Etsy HERE. You can purchase the downloadable pdf on either site. Weaving in the ends is an opportunity to tidy up any areas of your project where you’d like the individual tiles to be more visually connected. Worst case, you c2c rectangle can always cut the yarn and reattach it to your project. • Wind yarn onto small clips to create a bobbins. Clip bobbins to project when color is not in use.

This is the same place at which the desired width is achieved. At this point, you’ll begin decreasing by one tile per row until you’ve reached the final tile in the upper left corner of the graph. • Ruler – Helpful when drawing a line through each row in the graph pattern as you complete it. You’ll also want to do a test swatch and measure your gauge before starting a project. The corner-to-corner crochet technique is worked exactly as it sounds. Instead of working back and forth in rows, C2C is crocheted diagonally from one corner of a square or rectangle to the opposite corner and back again.

Or, cross out each row as you finish working it. Instead, you can leave the old color attached so that you can come back to it on the next row. So far, we’ve been talking about how to crochet a C2C square. But what if you want to make a rectangle instead? You can even turn your own designs into C2C charts.
