The Flint Children’s Museum was created after a local educator visited a children’s museum in Washington, D.C. The FCM was once housed in the Sloan Museum of the Flint Cultural Center and is now located on the Kettering University campus on University Avenue, close to Chevy Commons Park. It houses numerous interactive educational displays on a variety of subjects. Thanks to a vast number of kind donors and volunteers, the museum is growing.

Several times, he negotiated land exchanges on behalf of the U.S. government, and both sides held him in high regard. In the early 1800s, Genesee County was home to several Ojibwe Tribes, especially near what is known as Montrose today. The shallow parts of the Flint River became points of conflict between the rival tribes, which is evident by the presence of burial mounds and arrowheads.
